As many of you are already aware, the Pope will be visiting the United States in April. He will be visiting Washington D.C. and New York City. I see this as a tremendous opportunity for evangelization and renewal in the American church. While reading Our Sunday Visitor today, I came across this wonderful prayer for [...]

Good things appear on the horizon for the Catholic community in Qatar. The first Catholic Church in Qatar has opened. Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church has a 5000 member congregation. The Gospel reading for Good Friday was the Gospel of John chapter 18 and 19. This reading deals with the passion of Jesus Christ. One passage that some would do well to heed is chapter 19:26-27(KJV). When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy [...]

He was baptised into the Church over the Easter weekend by the Pope! It must have taken tremendous courage to convert under the pressure that Magdi Allam has faced. The [...]

Practical observation about Sola Scriptura

Today at work, a situation occurred that is a good example of why Sola Scriptura is problamatic as a doctrine. As a Catholic, I do not believe in the heresy of Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura, for those who don’t already know, means Bible Alone. For the past several years my employer has been working on a new computer system that will replace an [...]

While at work today, a coworker asked me if I had seen Lewis Black’s show on Comedy Central last night. I had never heard of Lewis Black. He indicated to me that it was a Catholic Church versus Oprah show. My coworker thought it was hilarious. Of course he thinks everything negative about the Catholic Church is hilarious and does [...]
