Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos has said that the Vatican has sent notices to the seminaries that indicates that the Vatican wishes all seminarians should be trained to be able to say the Tridentine Mass. The Pope wants to make the Mass available in all Parishes.
I believe that the Latin Mass is a treasure of the Church and should be available for those who wish to worship in that manner. I think that offering the Latin Mass as an option to the Novus Ordo Mass is perfect. Catholics should be proud of their heritage. I also think that as the world becomes more globalized having the option of the Latin Mass will allow any Catholic to be able to attend a Mass throughout the world and be familiar with the language. The Latin Mass can be used as a tool to bring greater unity to the Church around the Globe. In the United States many Churches are already offering Masses in Spanish. I think that having the Mass available in Latin can bring some form of real unity between the English and Spanish speaking members of the Church. It is something that they can share in common.
I do realize that many see this as a step backward, however, if seen in the proper context, this is a movement forward and a correction for what was never intended with Vatican II.
I have been to the Tridentine Mass several times since I returned to the Church and it does have a completely different feel to it than the new Mass. It has a beauty to it that is sometimes lacking in the Novus Ordo Mass. I do appreciate both Masses for what they are and I do think that they can co-exist together.
